Driving around Lake Harriet this afternoon, saw a strange looking mallard (at
least
I think it was a mallard) on the SW corner.
It was very dark brown, possibly black throughout its body and head. But it
had
a striking white ring around its neck 1-1.5" wide. Unfortunately I did not
have a
camera with me.

Is this an aberrant plumage, hybrid, or some sort of domestic? It was mixed
with
other mallards, coots, one Amer. wigeon, and one ring-necked. Body shape and
size matching that of the mallards.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
