Driving south on Hemlock south of I694 in Maple Grove and there was a huge
immature Bald Eagle focused on getting a some roadkill along the curbside north
of the "T" intersection with Fish Lake Road. Rush hour traffic was in full
swing so the cars driving north were either bumper to bumper or moving along at
35 mph or so. The bird made repeated attempts to find a way to get at the
roadkill and put on an incredible close up display just feet above the car
tops. The bird's presence slowed traffic even more as it would try to hover
over the carrion adn then sweep off and around for another look-see. The bird
was gone by the time I came back around. Not sure how long it put on its
display but I can say this - a hovering eagle's wings are practically as long
as the biggest car or at least it looked like it. Simply breath-taking.

Anyone looking for a great birding residence to rent home space from - my
former Spring Lake Park digs are available again. Nice place, nice live-in land
lord. Great birds and habitat - check my emails from 3-5 years back. Many
birdie memories and the former home of that visiting Western Tanager. Email me
directly at [email protected].
