I counted 7-8 black ducks at the Honeywell Pond in Golden Valley today.
However, one had some conspicuous green on its head and another showed a
little white on the outsides of its speculum, which would bring the number
of pure/non-hybrid American Black Ducks down to 5-6. I probably could have
had a more accurate count if I had brought my scope, but it was easy to view
the ducks without one. There were a lot of Mallards to sort through. I
didn't count them today but a week ago I estimated around 850.

More specifically, the location is south of the intersection of Duluth
Street and Douglas Drive, and north of the railroad tracks that cross
Douglas Drive. The pond is on the west side of Douglas Drive.

Good birding!
