Hey birders, I have a small flock of siskins (~20) visiting my feeding station regularly. The numbers have been fairly constant for about 3 weeks now. A couple of days ago though, I noticed a siskin with yellow in its breast plumage. This bird was paler overall with significantly less streaking on the breast compared to the other siskins and an asymmetric yellow smudge. I've read in some field guide that siskins in the southwestern U.S. can have some yellow in the body feathers and was wondering if anyone else in the birding community has seen such a characteristic in siskins here in Minnesota. Incidentally, I only saw that bird that one time (turnover in flock?).
