Hello everyone,

I decided to redeem some of my airline miles and have booked a flight this Wednesday to Minnesota for some winter birding in the North Woods. I will be in MN until the following Tuesday, and I am planning on spending the first couple days at the Sax-Zim bog area. My target species are:

Great Gray Owl
Northern Hawk Owl
Boreal Owl
White-winged Crossbill
Hoary Redpoll
Sharp-tailed Grouse
Long-tailed Duck

The owls are my most-wanted, although I have low expectations for Boreal. If anybody has any specifics on recent locations of these species it would be greatly appreciated. I'm not limiting myself to the Sax-Zim bog area, after a few days there I am considering heading either to the NW part of the state or out along the north shore of Lake Superior.

Thank you,

Abby Darrah
