Went to Richardson Nature Center last night (Tuesday) and hiked all of the trails. I saw and/or heard some 20 bird species, 13 of them while standing in one spot by the edge of a pond! The water birds were all traveling two by two in their beautiful breeding plumage. An osprey was perched on and circling around the nest, and I heard (but never saw) the gobbling gurgling of wild turkeys in the woods. It was a beautiful warm night of spring birding. Here's the list:
hooded merganser common merganser cormorant canada goose wood duck (SO many pairs!) mallard duck great egret cooper's hawk osprey blue jay crow downy woodpecker cardinal black-capped chickadee chipping sparrow red-bellied woodpecker nuthatch dark-eyed junco eastern bluebird wild turkey Sandy Herzan ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
