Jim:

I find it quite helpful to use the name of the town and state listed as a 
search term at Google-maps http://maps.google.com/ or MapQuest 
http://www.mapquest.com/  .  Once I am at the given location, I zoom out to see 
where in the given state the town is located.

I've noticed a flurry of reports recently wherein the poster mentions a 
locality such as a local or county park but fails to say in which county the 
site is located. Few, if any of us, know where all of these sites are located 
throughout the state. Remembering to include the county name in the subject is 
a good habitat to get into. Thanks and keep those posts coming in.
