A couple of weeks ago some of us southeasterners were made aware of some
flooded fields in the Rushford area that harbored some migrant ducks, geese,
swans and gulls. Well, they are all gone, but the fields are still flooded,
and shorebirds are moving in.
Friday AM, I saw a dozen or so each of the following species:

Greater Yellowlegs
Lesser Yellowlegs
Least Sandpiper
Wilson's Snipe
Killdeer

The fields are all on the south side of the Root River.

16 and 43 split on the south side of town. There is good habitat just east of
the split on 16, and just west of the split on 43. All of these spots are
within a mile of downtown Rushford.
