This morning at 7:30 there was a Western Grebe (breeding plumage) right along 
the western shore of Lake Nokomis (Mpls). It was visible from the canoe/boat 
ramp area just south of the main beach.

Horned Grebe numbers have tapered off but there were still a handful this 
morning.

Also, if you're in the area, there is an active Cooper's Hawk nest on public 
property nearby: on the E. Minnehaha Parkway median, between 32nd Ave S and 
33rd Ave S.
