At least 90 hardy birders braved the low temperatures and gusty winds on Saturday, April 30 to attend the 36th annual Salt Lake birding weekend at Lac Qui Parle County in western Minnesota. 136 species of birds were identified over the three day weekend. Highlights were as follows, 1. Three Snowy Egrets, south shore of Salt Lake. 2. One Mountain Bluebird, two miles south and one mile east of Marietta on 131st Ave, we were not able to find this bird on Sunday. 3. Five Hudsonian Godwits, one mile east of Cty Rd 13 and 2 miles north of State Hwy 40. 4. Two Buff-breasted Sandpipers, Sunday one miles south of Cty Rd 12 near Cobb Creek. 5. One Peregrine Falcon, 4 miles east of US 75 along Cty Rd 38. 6. 1,200 to 1,500 Lesser Yellowlegs, app. 2 miles west of Madison on Cty Rd 40, south side of road east of the bridge. 7.
