Yesterday evening, along with a small flock of migrating White-crowned and
White-throated Sparrows (which have been here for several days), I saw a
Harris's Sparrow in breeding plumage. It ate some seed, and shot into a cedar
bush next to the house. We saw it feeding again several times early this
frosty morning with the other 50 or so birds, including 35 Purple Finches, 2
Pine Siskins, and 1 lone junco.

Although they will soon leave, it's wonderful to see them, and hear the clear
"up north" sounds of these sparrow. They are among my favorite birds.
