Interesting mix of Orchard Oriole, American Bittern and Common Raven on Blue Hill Trail this evening, Sherburne Wildlife Refuge.

Only four warbler species, however (yellow-rumpeds may have passed 1000 in number) - this should change by the field trip on 5/14

Despite being out nearly daily, 35-40 species behind last year (which was only a normal year) - interesting migration thus far - anticipate that this next week could be spectacular (or frustrating). Should have good warbler/passerine viewing in the trees, barely budded.

In the "son eclipses the father" category, Nate saw a Cassin's Sparrow north of Chicago today (been there since Tuesday).

Good birding to all!
