Hi Pastor Al!
I received a note from a new MOU member that is interested in our hike
that
is listed as being at Wild River State Park. Please see the note that I
sent to her explaining that the hike on May 14th is at Irving and John
Anderson County Park in Isanti County. Sorry that I didn't catch is on my
own!
Yes, we too have Lark Sparrows ... and Golden-winged Warblers....at least
we hope they'll be here by next Saturday!!
We'd love to have some of the folks that are waiting on the Sherburne hike
list join us. Would you please extend our invitation to those folks.
If you've heard of anyone that is planning on the Wild River hike, please
forward this to them. The only note that I have received is from Sarah
that she may be attending.
Hope your hike goes well,
Joe Sausen

Hi Sarah,
Welcome to Minnesota! This is the time of the year that you'll be glad
you moved here.
Tom and I are looking forward to leading a hike at the Isanti County,
Anderson Park on May 14th. We'd be excited to have you join us on the
third annual hike that we've held there. The Park now has a great new
board walk through an alder thicket near the lake's edge that should give
us a very interesting view of warbles that we usually only get to hear.
We'll have a spotting scope or two to check out water foul out on the
lakes
too.
If you have time enough for a casual birding hike, we plan to have an
early picnic lunch in the new picnic shelter where we can watch the active
bluebirds while we eat.
If not, we've had a few folks that simply head back when they need to
leave.
The Park is very easy to get to by traveling north on Interstate 35 to
the first exit PAST Stacy, MN onto County Road #17. Turn left on #17 and
over the freeway.
Go about 4.5 miles due west until the road turns slightly north. In
about a 1/4 mile the roads turns back to the west ( you'll see a large
white cross in the church cemetery straight ahead). Turn RIGHT onto CR#18
at this corner. 1 mile past this little county church brings you to the
Anderson Park entrance on the right. We'll meet at the picnic shelter
which
is about 1/4 mile east along the gravel park road. The website with park
map is at: http://www.andersonparkfriends-isanti.org/
Wild River State Park is having a flower hike next weekend. I'll be
leading a birding hike in June there.
