While conducting grassland point counts for USFWS this week in Kandiyohi county, two unexpected species were seen: white crowned sparrow (associating with swamp sparrows) and olive sided flycatcher. Both species are well outside their breeding range here. I have encountered OSFL into the 2nd week of June, but never late June (6/24).
