On my drive heading home from North Dakota, I stopped in Duluth yesterday
and did about an hour of birding in Sax-Zim Bog (from about 11am until
noon). I had never been to the bog before in the summer time. It is such a
lush area, and was awesome to see the bog during the summer! Below are the
birds which were observed during my brief visit. There are a few pictures to
come from the bog, as well as many photos that I'll share from my trip to
North Dakota. On my drive eastward through the northwoods, I came across
several Red-tailed Hawks, Bald Eagles, many Turkey Vulture, and a Merlin
that zipped past the road. Speaking of which, it won't be long before the
raptors start migrating southward!
