Hi Everyone: Upcoming events for wildlife (bird) watchers at Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge include: Saturday, September 3 - Bird Tour - 8:00am - 11:00am Saturday, September 10 - Wildflower Tour - 10:00am - 12:00pm (you can look at birds too) Saturday, September 17 - Wildlife Festival - 10:00am - 3:00pm Carrol Henderson is our guest speaker - topics of trumpeter swans and sandhill cranes - plus nature walks, educational displays on birds and other wildlife, live raptors, crafts for the kids, horse-drawn wagon rides, geocaching, roast a marshmallow, and much, much more - FREE and appropriate for families! (I've invited the MOU to have a booth - no one has signed up to staff it yet - are YOU able to help? I'd love to have you here!) And NEW this year: Sandhill Crane Tours on Saturday October 15 and Saturday October 22. We have nearly 5000 cranes that roost on Sherburne Refuge and forage in area pastures and croplands. Join us at 6:30am on those days to watch the morning spectacle of cranes leaving their roost sites. If you can't make it that early, join us at 9:00am for a car caravan tour to areas surrounding the refuge where we'll look for flocks of cranes as they forage.
