> Fond felicitations feathered friend fans, fanatics and fanciers!
>
> Yes, a pat on the back for all of you wonderfully exuberant and passionate
> birders. In this past year you, yes you, I am talking to you - turn your
> pointer finger around and point it at yourself - In this past year you have:
>
> - nourished birds,
> - shared your passion for birds with others,
> - you have provided water for birds,
> - kept the universal interest in birds alive merely by caring so much about
> our feathered friends,
> - you have provided safe havens for birds,
> - share your sightings and opinions on birds with us on these bird servers,
> - supported locations that cater to birds,
> - supported our local, state and national economy by buying gasoline for your
> cars to see birds, driving your cars to see birds, buying bird seed, feeders,
> buying feeder cleaning materials, buying park entrance passes, perhaps
> staying in hotels or motels on a bird trip, maybe even flying to see birds,
> purchasing binoculars, cameras, sun protecant, rain gear - all part of your
> passion to see birds,
> - you have supported TV shows that show programs about birds,
> - you have supported politicians, government programs and local incentives
> that protect or care for the environment of birds, and mostly
> - you have made a difference in lives of birds and in the lives of others who
> share your passion.
>
> Now comes your reward! Ready!
>
> You get a gift that keeps on giving. An experience and a life long memory. In
> fact you get more than one gift.
>
> First of all we would like to gift you the oppoortunity to sit or stand
> outside on a sunny, wonderful day and have people of all shapes, ages, sizes
> and levels of education and interest in birds come to meet you. Mostly
> because of how special you are in your mere interest of birds. By the way, we
> have set up a great spot for you next to the DNR building and have scheduled
> it, coincidentally, at the same time as the State Fair.
>
> You are so special, that we have provided a bunch a really cool stuff for you
> hang out with at this booth we created just for you - a touch screen computer
> online so you can surf the web for birdie things, a bunch of birdie books and
> magazines, a cool spinning bird wheel that clicks and draws kids in to meet
> you, and a bunch more. We will even provide you with a chair to sit in while
> the parade of people who have come just to meet you march by for your
> entertainment.
>
> As for another gift (as if this wasn't enough already) we are going to gift
> you with a free ticket to get into the Great Minnesota Get Together on the
> day that you will be honored at the booth we just described!
>
> We can not think of a greater way to honor you and reward you for all you
> have done for birds this last year, and for most of your life, than to offer
> you a position as a volunteer at the MOU State Fair booth this year.
>
> Please accept this honor and sign up as described below or simply email
> Jennifer or Kate.
>
> The world is waiting to acknowledge you. Kids are waiting in line to meet you
> and be in your space. I even guarantee that some birds will fly by like a
> squadron of fighter jets in honor of you.
>
> See you at the Fair. A lot of spots still open for you to pick!

And now a repeated note on how to sign up

One is on the Google Calendar.
1 Go to www.google.com (http://www.google.com)
2. Click "Sign In" on the top right hand corner of your screen.
3. Sign in using "mouvolunteer" as your "email" and "ilovemou" as your
password
4. Click the "more" drop down menu item located in the center along the top of
your screen.
5. Click "Calendar" from the drop down menu.
6. You will see a calendar centered on today's date. Scroll through until you
get to August 25th 2011 where you will start to see the MOU booth shifts in
red.
7. Click on the shift that you want to sign up for. I find that clicking on
the actual word "Shift 1"(or 2 or 3) is the quickest and easiest.
8. Write your name after "shift 1, 2, or 3", in the "what" box at the top of
the form.
9. Click "save"
10. Log out (on top right hand corner of the screen).

And the other simply email Kate Kelnberger: [email protected] and tell us
what shift you want.
