Hi All,

We have several opportunities for you and your family to learn about birds
& wildlife coming up in September and October.  Our tours and events are all
free of charge and family-oriented.

Fall bird tour on Saturday, September 3, from 8am to 11am.

Fall Wildflower Tour on Saturday, September 10, from 10am to 12pm

Fall Wildlife Festival on Saturday, September 17, from 10am to 3pm - guest
speaker is Carrol Henderson on trumpeter swans and sandhill cranes.  Audubon
Minnesota and Red-headed Woodpecker Recovery folks will be here.  Birds from
The Raptor Center, informational booths on a variety of topics, food, wagon
rides, nature crafts, tours, nature walks, geocaching scavenger hunt and a
"migration challenge" game.  Complete the challege and get banded!  (poster
will be on the web site in the next day or so).

Sandhill Crane Tours (new this year) will be offered on Saturday, October 15
and Saturday, October 22.  There are two options for trips.  6:30am both
dates to watch cranes leave their roost sites on the refuge, or 9:00am both
dates to participate in a car caravan tour to area wetlands, pastures and
fields to observe cranes foraging in large flocks.  I'll have songbird coffee
and hot chocolate ready at 5:45 to help you wake up!

There are posters in the Refuge Events section of our web site, which provide
detailed information for all events.  I would like to have participants
pre-register for the tours.  It's not necessary for the wildlife festival.
Hope to see you at Sherburne this fall!
