Hi birders, Had a entertaining morning and afternoon bird walks at
westwood.In the morning a coopers hawk
scattered a family of green heron who were roosting on some dead trees. they
all took off in different directions
making their alarm calls.Also a piliated wp was seen over the south end. The
ruby throated hummers are gathering in the touch me not flower areas .Also
many eastern kingbirds about!! In the afternoon a adult bald eagle flew over
the
lake.( Awesome)Also in the PM gazilions of chimney swifts and Barn swallows
swarmed over noth end of the lake.
Family of Hooded Mergansers was also seen.A few species of warblers were
about with all the commen usual residents. Last week a american Bittern was
observed by one of the naturalist. Hope to see you all birding this fall.
