Sunday:

We stopped at Miesville Ravine this morning to see if we could get a better
picture of the interesting hummingbird we found last week. The bird was not
there. The consensus of the experts that I sent the photos that we have is
that we were unable to show that this bird was not a Ruby-throated Hummer. I
doubt that I will write up.

We looked briefly and unsuccessfully for the Cerulean Warbler. Warblers that
were seen included Blue-winged, Black & White, Redstart, C. Yellowthroat, and
Ovenbird. We also saw a Lincoln's Sparrow.

Later I checked out mostly shorebird locations:

180th St. Marsh - very quiet. No shorebird habitat to speak of.

Randolph Industrial Park - nothing interesting

Lake Byllesby - water levels are at the high summer levels, which leave little
exposed sand.
Killdeer, L. Yellowlegs, Least Sandpiper, Semi-palmated Sandpiper

Jirik Sod Farm - much of the sod has been planted in corn, but bare dirt and
some small puddles attracted a few shorebirds.
Killdeer, L. Yellowlegs, Baird Sandpiper, 1 Buff-breasted Sandpiper

302 St. and Alta (off of Hwy 47 & west of Randolph) - hundreds of shorebird.
Best shorebird location in county that I know of.
Killdeer, Semi-palmated Plover, L. & G. Yellowlegs, Solitarty Sandpiper,
Semi-Palmated Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper,
Pectoral Sandpiper, Bairds Sandpiper, prob. Sanderling, Wilson's Phalarope,
probably others. 2 Sand-hill Cranes in with the shorebirds.
