I led a guided trip to Sax-Zim Bog today, and had a total of 39 species. One
of the most awe-inspiring sightings of the day was seeing the White-throated
Sparrows moving through. I know that songbirds in general migrate
long-distances by night, and will slowly meander-while-eating their way
southward during the fall migration. Up until today, I had never seen
"streams" of songbirds at eye-level (moving through the underbrush and
hopping through the thickets during migration) all while continuing
southward. These little sparrows were eating on-the-go! There were dispersed
flocks of White-throated Sparrows along McDavitt Rd heading southward for
over 20 minutes today. The White-throated Sparrows made up the bulk of the
sparrow species observed heading south. It was a sight to see!! Several
migrating raptors were noted as well.

This past weekend was Jaegerfest Weekend at Wisconsin Point (Superior, WI).
It was nice so to catch up with many of my birding friends from Wisconsin! I
only attended Friday morning (arriving at the point shortly after civil
twilight), and all of the birders that morning as well as myself were
treated to great looks at Parasitic Jaegers chasing gulls!
