Good afternoon!! We are going to be staying in Grand Marais for a long weekend
starting on the 7th. We come up every fall and winter and have been pretty
successful finding all of our target bird species thanks in part to you
wonderful residents who have so graciously replied to my email requests! We
still have yet to find (for some reason!) a few mammal species that should be
"findable" if one was to put in some time in the right places and right times
of day. Our first an foremost is the Wolf! Although we have seen tracks and "oh
you just missed ones" from several residents up and down the Gunflint, we have
yet to come across one. At this point we will settle for one crossing the road
as we make numerous twilight trips up and down the Gunflint. The others
include Pine Marten. If anyone has their feeders out yet (may be a little early
because of the Bear?), and wouldn't mind the three of us stopping by to see one
of these little characters, we would greatly appreciate it! Or, if you can
direct us to a somewhat reliable location. Lastly, Otter and Porcupine. I
assume the harbor for the Otter, but Porcupine we have been missing too. Thank
you for ANY and ALL help you can provide!! You can backchannel us at your
convenience!! Thank you in advance! Good birding!Jim & Kayce
