Minnesota River Valley Audubon Chapter
Washington County Birding Day

Spent the day on Thursday, birding with a group in Washington County. With
high winds and rain for most of the day, it made for a tough day of birding.
We did encounter large flocks of White-throated Sparrows and a few mixed flocks
of Yellow-rumped Warblers. Some of the locations we birded at were, the
Oakdale Nature Preserve, Lake Elmo Park Reserve and White Bear Lake.

Here are a few of the species we observed today:

Red-necked Grebe - Several Red-necked Grebes were observed from the boat
landing on Lake Elmo, in Lake Elmo Regional Park Reserve.
Bonaparte's Gull - Observed in both Washington and Ramsey county, flying over
White Bear Lake.
Red-bellied, Yellow-bellied, Downy, Hairy, Northern Flicker and Pileated
Woodpeckers were observed along the trails at the Oakdale Nature Preserve.
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Brown Creeper
Winter Wren
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
American Pipit
Nashville Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
White-throated Sparrow
