Minnesota River Valley Audubon Chapter
Chisago County Birding Day
Field Trip Report

Enjoyed a full day of birding in Chisago county today. Our group checked some
of the lakes in the Southern portion of the county and made stops at Interstate
and Wild River State Parks and the Sunrise Unit of Carlos Avery WMA. There was
very little waterfowl observed in the county. But we did find a few groups of
Sparrows and Junco's. Especially at the feeding station at Wild River State
Park. Here are a few of the species we observed today:

Bald Eagle - 10+
Northern Harrier
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Bonaparte's Gull
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Pileated Woodpecker
Common Raven
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Eastern Bluebird - 50+
Orange-crowned Warbler
Vesper Sparrow
Fox Sparrow
Swamp Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
Dark-eyed Junco
