We went to the Shakopee Mill Pond tonight along County Road 101 to see what waterfowl were present.
Many Mallards and Canada Geese 5 Gadwalls 1 American Black Duck - I think it was a Black Duck, it was significantly darker than the other female Mallards and had a clean pale-yellow bill. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnbirder/6247573881/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnbirder/6247574079/ We also saw 2 Fox Sparrows 2 Dark-eyed Juncoes 2 Yellow-rumped Warblers 100+ American Robins Around 20 Cedar Waxwings When we were driving out of the parking lot a Parakeet flew from the grass onto the parking lot. Obviously an escape but an amazing surprise nonetheless. If you know anyone in the area who has lost a Parakeet here are some pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnbirder/6247574197/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnbirder/6248095960/ Definitely a much more exciting 30 minutes or so then I was expecting.
