An impromptu weekend trip yielded some nice birding. Favorites were Pine Grosbeak at French River, N. Goshawk on Two Harbors Golf Course, 3 Horned Grebes in Taconite Harbor, Rough-legged Hawk, Purple Finches and WW Crossbills in Sax-Zim Bog, and numerous flocks of Snow Buntings along Highway 61. The Crossbills were especially co-operative, landing to pick grit, presumably, right in front of the car, about a quarter mile south of the gravel pits on Arkola Road. Hoping to return north for the Brrrdathon and/or Sax-Zim Festival! Linda Whyte
