There are a couple of poultry farms along Hwy. 25 between Little Rock and
Pierz, and it's my understanding that they throw dead birds onto the manure
pile.  When it's spread on local fields, and then chisel plowed, the eagles
come from miles around - they've learned when to show up.  They do hang around
at other times of the year, but the largest numbers occur during fall.  I've
seen birds in fields west of Buckman, and at Crane Meadows NWR as well - but in
smaller numbers.
