About the female goldeneye from this morning. I'm going to label this bird as common, after reviewing the picture and hearing feedback via email and facebook about this bird. Thank you so much to everyone that responded back :)
The overall head profile on this female goldeneye is more Common-like than Barrow's-like. Barrow's Goldeneyes have a more leaning-forward appearance with their head, whereas the commons are more centered and upright (still rounded on top). Also, even though the bill is orange on this individual, the bill is just a little too large to be a Barrow's Goldeneye. Here is a photo of the goldeneye from this morning (posted earlier today), for reference with this ID. http://www.pbase.com/birdfedr/image/140210700 Good night, and good birding, Erik Bruhnke Duluth, MN -- *NATURALLY AVIAN* - Guided Birdwatching Trips and Bird photography www.pbase.com/birdfedr www.naturallyavian.blogspot.com [email protected] ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
