This morning I visited Sax-Zim Bog with some friends. We had an incredible
time, with wonderful weather and exciting birds.

One gorgeous GREAT GRAY OWL was seen, tucked in a black spruce thicket, and
a NORTHERN HAWK OWL flew by too! We had several Gray Jays, Black-billed
Magpies, hundreds of Common Redpolls (at least 400), dozens of Pine
Grosbeaks and White-winged Crossbills, eight Rough-legged Hawks, several
Bald Eagles of various ages, and the good ol' American Crows and Common
Ravens. An extra-special treat was seeing a perched dark morph Rough-legged
Hawk on our way back to Duluth earlier this afternoon. Below are some
pictures from this morning. Enjoy!
