The Sax-Zim Bog Winter Bird Festival is filling up fast and if you still have 
not filled out the registration to join the festival please do so soon.  The 
festival dates are February 17-19 2012.  To read more about the festival and to

Sax-Zim Bog sightings this past weekend:

        * Sharp-tailed Grouse (11-14 birds displaying)
        * Ruffed Grouse
        * Northern Goshawk
        * Rough-legged Hawk
        * Merlin
        * Great Gray Owl (3 sightings)
        * Black-backed Woodpecker 

        * Northern Shrike
        * Gray Jay
        * Boreal Chickadee
        * White-winged Crossbill
        * Common Redpoll
        * Hoary Redpoll
        * Pine Grosbeak
        * Evening Grosbeak
Duluth/Superior sightings this past weekend:
        * Glaucous Gull
        * Glaucous-winged Gull
        * Thayer's Gull
        * Iceland Gull
        * Great Black-backed Gull
        * Snowy Owl 
        * Varied Thrush
So despite the lack of snow there are still plenty of good winter birds to be
