The continuing N Hawk Owl in the vicinity of Gooseberry Falls State Park was relocated yesterday afternoon, Feb 11. However, it was not along the trails near the visitors center or along the highway by the Gooseberry River, where others have apparently seen it recently. Instead, it was farther up the N Shore from there along Hwy 61, ~1.2 mi NE of the park entrance road. This is where the owl was first reported by Harley Hanson in late December, and it is still the only consistent N Hawk Owl reported in the state all winter. To my knowledge, there have been only 2-3 other isolated sightings this season of birds present for just one day.
