Received a call last night to report a pair of pileated woodpeckers that successfully fledged a brood of young last summer using a wood duck house instead of a natural cavity. Wondering if anyone else has ever witnessed this? Though they do regularly use wood duck boxes for wintering roost sites, I've never heard of them nesting in one.
