Perhaps of interest, a nice locale (Deer Creek outflow of Deer Lake), south of
Buffalo, CR12, Right on Rd108. Water is in the main channel, but the floodplain
is muddy. Not the hundreds reported from S-MN, but an excellent species
number:  Not reported much in Wright, here a lone Greater White-fronted Goose;
Ducks: Gadwall, Pintail (2), Shoveler, Green-wing Teal (2), Greater Scaup (1),
Lesser Scaup (4), lots of Hooded & Common Mergansers...all mixed with the
Trumpeter Swans. Also, a Western Meadowlark sang out.
South of Waverly, a unique sighting, two Cackling Geese leading a 20-pack of
Canada Geese.
Most lakes iced in, including a perimeter sweep of Pelican Lake & marsh, but
did hear FOY Killdeer.
Question: Do the specialty geese dominantly swing westward from Byllesby and
such?...because up here in Stearns, Benton, Morrison such sightings are much
rarer, I think. mjb
