This past weekend, I showed two groups of birders around Sax-Zim Bog on Sunday and had one heck of a fun time birdwatching. The morning started out with a Great Gray Owl, and we were treated to Gray Jays, a Northern Shrike lingering around (could still be for a few more weeks), and several gorgeous Rough-legged Hawks as the day progressed. Also, Common Redpolls and Pine Siskins were seen in good numbers, and the Brown Creepers were singing beautifully! A large flock of Snow Buntings were seen. Our day ended just below Enger Tower in Duluth, where we were treated to a migrating Northern Goshawk and several Bald Eagles throughout a brief afternoon of hawkwatching.

I'm really hoping to help out with the count as much as possible! When I last out watching raptors, I caught myself getting almost tippy-toed while looking through the scope. It's just such a fun time. Bald Eagles have made some impressive movements up here over the past week, in addition to a few Golden Eagles, Rough-legged Hawks, and accipiters here and there.
