Four days ago at dusk I saw about 100 goose or crane like birds flying in three identical formations. All three were in very straight lines, not a V formation. Four to five individuals were also in an almost straight line out in front, a reversed capital T formation although most of the birds were in the horizontal straight line. There were far too high, higher than I have ever seen a flying formation for me to ID them other than large long necked birds. I have never seen this flight formation before. Can someone illuminate me as to what birds they may have been. I noticed almost no wing flapping, they must have caught an excellent rapid jet of air heading north west.
