While the huge flocks of large waterfowl have dispersed from Lake Byllesby
and the hoped-for huge flocks of shorebirds seem yet to arrive, there were
nice assortments of previously reported duck species at the Randolph
Industrial Park and the 180th St. Marsh. Interestingly enough, both places
had Shrikes hunting near water's edge and alternating between low and high
perches. At Randolph there was, as well, a singing E. Meadowlark using a
large rock as his stage.

As usual, there was a pair of Kestrels at the Empire substation.

To end the day, the Woodcocks were "peenting" and twittering at Rachel
Lilly Preserve (Mendota Heights/Sunfish Lake), on both the north field near
the barns, and the grass meadows next to the pond and marsh.

No need for lucky shamrocks---the day was good as gold.
