I spent some quality time on the way home from work today watching the PEREGRINE FALCON pair at the Colonnade Building. I initially spotted one of the mates sitting on a ledge while driving by on 394. So, I pulled off the freeway and headed to the parking lot across the street from the Colonnade. Then I saw the other falcon sitting on a ledge on the other side. Both falcons were present during the 45 minutes I was there (5:00 - 5:45pm). And, I watched both take off and hunt high above the open areas by the Olive Garden across the freeway. One of the mates brought back a meal (from what I could see, it was not Soup, Salad and Breadsticks :-) - and was busy eating when I had to head for home to have dinner myself.
I got some decent photos despite the overcast skies and poor lighting. The falcons were way up high on a ledge three quarters of the way up the building. And, I made sure to keep my distance. http://www.flickr.com//photos/rburmaster/sets/72157629266829820/show/ Good birding,Bob BurmasterMinneapolis PS - My wife and 4yo daughter got buzzed by a Great Horned Owl in our front yard today. Flew right over their heads. With about 30 crows in hot pursuit. :-) ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
