Well a beautiful day for a walk, lots of wildflowers, and some nice though "ordinary" birds. Crosby Park(circled smaller lake) Eastern Phoebe- numerous on the bluff side. Barred Owl- frequently calling, somewhere near the river, did not have time to investigate. BW Teal- 8 PB grebe- 2 Wood Duck- 3 pairs. Had a few glimpses of what was probably a creeper. In poor light, creeping downward on a trunk quickly, smaller than a wb nuthatch. 2 Bald Eagles circling Bluebirds in grassier areas N. flickers (2) ground feeding on an ant hill. All of the other woddpeckers were present-downy, hairy, pileated (calling), and my FOY yellow-bellied sapsucker.
In other miscellany: Lots of bloodroot and dutchmen's breeches in bloom. Several Garter snakes crossed our path, many painted turtles on logs, and one map turtle. Now if only those warblers would show up before the leaves grow anymore . .
