Had a few new arrivals up here over the last two days. Swainson's Hawks have appeared around the Audubon Center of the Red River Valley/Agassiz Impoundment area. Vesper Sparrows are becoming increasingly common in Marshall county around the Off Channel Impoundment Loggerhead Shrike made an appearance at Parnell Impoundment this morning. Marbled Godwits are increasing throughout the area Trumpeter Swans continue at Parnell Impoundment Rusty Blackbirds continue at the Audubon Center of the Red River Valley Rough-legged Hawks are still hanging around in small numbers as well. I also had 2 juvenile Bald Eagles flying with an adult this morning
Below are the tallies from the surveys I ran yesterday and today. A note on locations (since many of them are new): The impoundments are open to the public but may not always be open to vehicles Audubon Center of the Red River Valley (Polk County): Formerly Wetlands, Pines, and Prairie Audubon Sanctuary. South on Marshall 36/Polk 68 from Minn 1 east of Warren Agassiz Impoundment (Polk/Marshall Counties): Immediately north of the Audubon Center of the Red River Valley. NOT to be confused with Agassiz NWR. Off Channel Impoundment (Marshall County): 4 miles north of Minn 1 on 240th. 280th is 2 miles east of the turn for the Audubon Center AO#4 Impoundment (Polk County): Polk 68 South from the Audubon Center till it dead ends at Polk 23. Head south 1 mile then east 1 mile. Euclid East Impoundment (Polk County): 1.5 miles east of Euclid on Polk 19 Parnell Impoundment (Polk County): Takes US 75 south out of Euclid to Polk 17 east.
