Hadn't seen this posted here, so thought I'd let everyone know:

Ethan and Aaron Gyllenhaal found an Elaenia at Douglas Park in Chicago, IL
on Tues.
The identity of the bird wasn't realized until late yesterday.

The bird was re-found about an hour ago by Doug Stotz.


So far, the exact identity is up in the air, but has been narrowed down to
about two species.
It is either a White-crested Elaenia (in which case it would be the 2nd ABA
record) or it is a Small-billed Elaenia (in which case it would be the
first ABA record).

In any case, it's a crazy rare vagrant and totally worth chasing if you're
into that. ;)
