We also enjoyed these birds at Randolph today, with two additions.
A male N. Harrier was hunting low over the fields to the north and the west
for an extended period. At the far end of the area, across the RR tracks, I
FINALLY saw my lifer Gray Partridge, thanks to husband Rob, who persuaded
me to head there first, park the car, and walk the edge of the paved
circle.
The bird flushed from the shallow ditch at the edge, and scooted a sort
distance across a plowed area to a strip of grasses. It later flew back
out, low over the ground, to a field on the north side of the circle.
