Great time to get up to the Sax-Zim Bog. All the breeding specialties are
present and on territory including Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Sedge Wren,
Sandhill Crane, Connecticut Warblers, Lincoln's Sparrows, Black-billed Magpie,
Sharp-tailed Grouse,  and Great Gray Owl.

Also heard was a surprising Western Meadowlark in the hayfield south of
CR52/Arkola and just east of Stickney Road (Sharp-tailed Grouse on a fencepost
here too). This is also the field where Upland Sandpipers are frequently heard
and seen.

The Great Gray Owl was hunting along McDavitt at 9am...So probably has a nest
of hungry owlets back in the bog.
