I'm not sure signage would do anything meaningful. I can easily envision an
updraft carrying a young bird right up and over the bridge (and into traffic)
in an instant.

Subject: Re: [mou-net] Peregrine

I'm so sad to hear that. I understand the concept of site-faithfulness for
nesting, but wonder why that sort of recurring mishap doesn't drive them away
for being too high-risk. It must be based only on success at getting fledglings
out of the nest intact, not keeping them so.
So I wonder if we couldn't have some sort of signs at the ends of the bridge,
warning motorists to be on the look-out for foundering young Peregrines. We do
it for deer, moose, even turtles (not to mention steep hills and falling rocks,
though that's about motorist safety); why not for Peregrines?

Sadly, today I found the remains of one of the fledged falcons on the bridge
deck (vehicle fatality). Last year I encountered a just-fledged (and just
struck and killed) falcon at the same spot.
