At 92 degrees today was cool compared to the 109 degrees we had in Nashville, TN, last weekend.
I ventured out to find some of the interesting birds recently reported in the South Metro. Around noon I found the common gallinule at the Dakota County 180th St. Marsh, along with yellow-headed blackbirds, grebes, marsh wren, etc. I had a nice look at and listen to a Henslow's sparrow at the bus/ trailer parking lot at Afton State Park, Washington County. A Bell's vireo was singing non-stop in the lone tree at the Frontenac State Park visitor center parking lot, Goodhue County.
