There were 4 Sandhill Cranes (unknown race) in a harvested field just east of the Elko Speedway late Saturday morning. I know third hand that they do nest in Scott and Rice Counties, so don't know if these are local or in migration. On Sunday, mid-afternoon, there was a Common Loon on Lake Calhoun near the shore at the "foot" of 36th Street, quite near the fishing dock. Tony Smith Hennepin County
