The New Jersey birding listserve has published the following link to an eBird article. The article refers to potential impact on birds resulting from Hurricane Sandy. The storm is expected to have the greatest impact on pelagic and sea birds blown into coastal and near coastal areas. However, the article estimates the storm’s huge size could impact bird migration as far west as the Great Lakes. We in Minnesota and Wisconsin are pretty far west but – who knows – we may see some unusual species here, especially in and around Lakes Michigan and Superior. After the storm might be a good time to visit my relatives in New Jersey!
