There is a Hummingbird still coming to nectar feeders at a friends home in Hudson, first seen around Oct. 8th. The homeowner got a photo of the bird on 10/25 and after sending it to Ryan Brady, he determined it to be a possible Rufous. The homeowner, myself and 2 others have tried to get a good quality photo of this bird, to no avail. It would be awesome if someone could get a good quality pic to determine if this possible Rufous could be a first-ever state bird, as a Broad-tailed or Allen's. The homeowner welcomes people to come out and photograph but prefers to keep her contact info private - if anyone did want to bring a camera and see this bird you can reply to me with your phone # & email and I will forward that on to her, she will then call or email you back. The drive is not far from the cities, straight out I-94 to Carmichael Road/CR F (first exit in WI and then a couple of miles south). It sure would be nice to see if we can ID this rare one....let me know if you're up for the challenge.
