Hi All—

I do most of my banding in Northfield in the spring and fall migrations,
with relatively few birds in summer or winter (my home feeder really is not
very active).

Today in Northfield I caught a goldfinch that I banded on 6 February 2012.
What is remarkable is that this bird was banded at our Dundas banding
station and retrapped here in Northfield. Despite the banding stations
being only about 2 miles apart, this is only the third inter-station retrap
in the past six years. (The only other two where both Black-capped
Chickadees.)

Furthermore, as I have mentioned before, I suspect our wintering
goldfinches are not the same as our breeding population.

Good Birding!
