I was out guiding a couple from Fullerton, California today and boy did we 
started the the year with a boom.

- Great Gray Owl along Highway north of CR27 in St. Louis County. ( there were 
actually 2 seen along Highway 5 this morning and another along CR 133 2 miles 
east of CR 7  )
- Hawk Owl along Kolu Rd in Sax-Zim Bog.
- Snowy Owl in Superior, WI at the Bong Airport area.

- Slaty-backed Gull at Canal Park
- Iceland Gull (first cycle) Canal Park

- Thayer's Gull ( first cycle, three 2nd cycles, 1 third cycle and 1 adult ) 
Canal Park

- Glaucous Gull (2nd cycle) Canal Park

- Great Black-backed Gull (first cycle) Canal Park
- Boreal Chickadee (4 Admiral Rd Feeders in Sax-Zim Bog)
- Hoary Redpolls ( female at Blue Spruce Rd in Sax-Zim Bog, male Hoary Redpoll 
at Friends of Sax-Zim Bog feeders off Owl Avenue in Sax-Zim Bog)
- Evening Grosbeaks ( Blue Spruce Rd Feeders )
- Snow Buntings along CR 7 south of CR 28 in Sax-Zim Bog
- Gadwall at Canal Park


Other:
Gray Jays, Pine Grosbeaks, Common Redpoll, Rough-legged Hawk and Ruffed Grouse.

Birds reported to me and seen today by other birders:
- Barrow's Goldeneye at Superior Entry Way, Northern Goshawk in Sax-Zim Bog, 
Black-backed Woodpecker flying past the Admiral Rd feeders in Sax-Zim Bog, 
White-winged Crossbills seen in Sax-Zim Bog, Northern Shrike seen in Sax-Zim 
Bog, Black-billed Magpie seen in Sax-Zim Bog.

Not a bad day to start the year and also a GREAT way to begin my Big Half Year.
