After 5 weeks of guiding/birding, I finally found a Black-backed Woodpecker in
northern Minnesota!
It does involve a hike in the woods though...
Look for a walking trail in the snow, about a 1/4 mile south of the N logging
road on McDavitt in the Sax-Zim Bog
The trail goes west from the road.
